Embracing the Emotional Rollercoaster with Human Design Gate 55

What is the meaning of Gate 55 in Human Design? When Gate 55 (Gene Key 55) appears in your life, whether through it being defined in your chart or via a transit, it’s time to look at where you’ve been stuck in a mentality of lack and where you are out of emotional alignment with what you want to create in your life. Because the more shadowy aspects of Gate 55 can cause people to feel like they are tossed to and fro by their emotions, you may also need to look at learning how to ride any emotional waves gracefully and with greater faith. Gate 55 is a call to more deeply attune yourself to the abundance that always exists within you, regardless of what is happening around you.

Human Design Gate 55 is of particular interest to me because, although I do not have Gate 55 defined in my chart, I do have its channel counterpart defined, Gate 39. With Gate 55’s channel counterpart (Gate 39) defined in my chart in the placement of my Unconscious Saturn, I am often having to learn the lessons of taking full ownership of my emotions to release them in transformative ways instead of allowing them to take me down the road of excess (in my case, overspending and overeating). Tuning into the higher frequency energies of Gate 55 has helped me learn to embrace and shift some of the lower frequencies of Gate 39, when I experience them.

Gate 55 in Human Design is referred to as The Gate of Spirit and “is susceptible to the melancholic chemistry of the emotional wave, which is constantly moving through cycles of hope to pain” (The Definitive Book of Human Design). Situated in the Emotional Solar Plexus Center, this Gate is associated with emotional depth, abundance, and spiritual insights. This Gate teaches us about the transient nature of emotions and the power of optimism. Gate 55 is often regarded as a spiritual Gate, with a deep connection to the understanding of life's greater purpose. It represents the transition from fear to love, from scarcity to abundance.
